Peaches and Sitting on the Couch

Baby Z tried peaches today. She was very "um what in the heck are those" about them. I think they were a little tartier than she wanted but she continued to want them. She likes her new high chair. It is the first time she has had something she could sit upright in and not have us towering over her. As for the other two photos, I thought I would take pics of her sitting on the couch.

July 26th

Zatanna is learning new consonants evey minute it seems. She just loves to babble. I know this is normal because of how they cry but it still makes me jump to attention when she cries and it comes out as Ma-Maaaa. Talk about bitter sweet :)

She can take a few steps if you are holding her a little ways away from you. She is still obviously a little clumsy with it but for four months she is doing amazing. She has been pretty irritable lately I am guessing she has a lot of things on her mind and hates that we lay her down in places she has been a hundred times. She watches everything.

She has become a lot more of a cuddler too which I find wonderful. My whole life I have needed someone to hug on and now I have someone :)

As for food, still loving the carrots. We started sweet potatoes yesterday and she ate almost a full jar! Green Beans she does ok for a little bit and prunes it depends on the day. I think there is too much flavor sometimes. Anyway, I think next is squash. Doug said we need to add more to our diet too...Why I am not sure but if there is something he will eat as a side dish bring it on.

UpperClass Living Party

Zatanna went with me to an Upper Class Living Party tonight at her Great aunt Cheryl's house. I bought a quote to put on her wall. It says Zatanna Practically Perfect in every way. Yep I love that line from Mary Poppins. Anyway, she did so good at the party. She only got fussy for a few minutes and that was hungry time. She did of course make a dirty diaper while we were there luckily it was when everyone was in the other room getting food. The diapers are definitely getting fuller as more solids get introduced. Tonight we also made a run to Walmart because Shop n Save diapers suck. They hold very little and what they do hold does not absorb very well so she was constantly uncomfortable or being changed. It is too bad, they are cute diapers but so far Walmart brand beats them all. I didn't really believe it when all the ladies were telling me that but it is very true.

Prunes

So yesterday Doug got Zatanna prunes. When we tried them she ate them eagerly but started crying hysterically all of a sudden so I thought maybe she didn't like them so I gave her a bottle and tried again today. She loved it and only got grumpy when she was done with her little bowl. I think she may have just been really hungry last night and not in the mood to wait in between bites.

Next Food Oatmeal Cereal

Eating

This spoon is too big for her but at least I have one pic of her eating for now. I will get more once I buy her a bumbo seat this weekend. :)

Green Beans and Other things

Z had green beans last night she seemed to like them but got grumpier faster than she normally does with carrots. Maybe that will mean there will be more than one person in the house that likes green beans.

I wonder what the first sour face will be from...

In other news she didn't want to see me at all tonight. I got home and not even a smile. We played Itsy Bitsy spider which she loves and for that she smiled and as soon as I was done. Grumpy. I put her in her swing and she just sat and pretended she was asleep by turning her head towards the swing. I picked her up and she was grumpy again. I understand they have bad days too but seriously this has been kind of a sucky week and I really needed some baby cuteness...Oh well I guess daddy deserves his I love you more days too...I just hope there aren't many where she only likes one of us...

4 month checkup

Zatanna saw her new pediatrician yesterday. She was amazing in comparison to our old doctor who was a nice guy but well...I like her new doctor...Anywho, she was 15 lbs 4 oz and 25 inches long. She is in the 90th percentile for weight but the doc said she is also in the 75th for height so she isn't overweight just taller than most her age. Her head is only in the 25th percentile though so she has a little head :) but the doc wasn't worried.

She did spectacular. Dr. Eberhard said she looks like a healthy and happy baby so to keep doing what we are doing and come back in two months for the next set of shots. Which brings us to the yucky part of the appointment...the doc told us we were getting a different shot than at the last office this was a combo so instead of three shots she gets only two one in each leg which I was thrilled about becuase if you ever see a guy stick two needles at once into your daughters leg you really want to stab those needles in his eye. She only cried a little with the first shot and the second one she cried a lot but she got calmed down pretty quickly and then slept most of the rest of the night. She woke up with a slight fever but I gave her some tylenol and as far as people tell me she did great and looked it when I got home.

Tomorrow Green Beans!!

Carrots second day

She started slow today but really got into the carrots grabbing the spoon and pushing them into her mouth. It was very cute and messy. We had carrots on her, mommy, a blanket and of course the bib cloth.

Carrots

Zatanna had carrots tonight. She seemed to like them way more than the rice cereal which why wouldn't see carrots are way more excitement than rice flakes mixed with formula.

Day 2 Rice Cereal

Z did pretty good on rice cereal this morning. At first she wanted her bottle after two bites so we did that until she got to the point where she didn't have her eyes closed enjoying the bottle which happened when Grandma Allen walked in the door. So I offered it to her and she opened her mouth and took it eagerly. Of course a lot of it came out but she seemed to enjoy it. I may have to buy a painters smock for other feedings if I am going to dress for work before she wakes up but it was a fun and cute experience and my pants only had three little drippings that will just serve as a reminder.

Rice Cereal

Zatanna had her first experience with eating from a spoon today. At first she took it readily but was unhappy that it was not a continuous stream like her bottle. So I gave her the bottle I had at the ready since it was her first feeding of the day and half way through I tried to give her more. Same thing happened she took the first few bites (although most of it came out) and then got grumpy when it wasn't continuous. So we finished the bottle tried another bite or two and left it at that. She did pretty good for her first time and afterwards she just kept smacking her lips together I am guessing she was trying to wrap her head around the new flavor. Now she is happily watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Two Jumper Pics and a Carousel

The Zoo

Today I took baby Z to the zoo with grandma allen and grandma and grandpa penny. It was a great time. She started out super excited and looking at everyone. We started at the children's zoo. While we waited for tickets in the shade she looked at all the trees and little kids that were nearby with lots of cute smiles. Then we went into the main area with guinea pigs, the fennec fox etc. A few minutes after we entered the room she wasn't really interested in anything. She was more interested in teh guy working with the guinea pigs than the actual guinea pigs, she gave a little giggle to the foxs and then...unhappy baby ready to eat. (she decided to only take 3 ozs that morning so she was a hungry baby) The bathrooms at the zoo are so small well for two grandmas, one mom an upset baby and a stroller plus all the extra people in there. We got her changed and went out to sit and continue feeding her. We decided what better way than to sit and watch the zoo acres program. Shortly after eating a few ounces she was out. Then the show began and of course being an interactive show the kids were asked to scream words at certain points at first she was out nothing could rouse her than a particularly loud "NO" woke her up. She was doing good though just watching the kids. She was particularly watching a young lady next to us maybe a little older than herself and when her daddy put her in the stroller so she couldn't see her anymore...that was it she got upset and we left. From what I saw it was a cute little show though.

Then we were off to the Rivers Edge. She was showing signs of tired...

A little while into the Rivers Edge she was out and we lost her company for the bears, monkeys and she woke up at the tigers. (there was quite a large amount of animals getting their cages cleaned) Anywho, once she woke up Grandpa Penny and I were on our way to wait for the grandmas who were riding the train to meet us. She sat up for a while enjoying the scenery and watching the people then it was time for a diaper change and food. The bathroom in the bird house...really small for all the mommies with their strollers. It was the first time (and I am sure not the last) where I had to stand in line for the baby changing station. I rarely seen those things used before I had a kid and now I am waiting in line...what?!! Anywho, she started getting upset again of course she was hungry. I went out leaning over her stroller with bottle in hand and grandpa Penny offered to hold her and feed her and that worked for me and the back so we were off to meet the grandmas at the carousel...She  thought that was so interesting and we were excited for the photo op...

at first we were on together but then they said only one person on an animal

and we waited....then the dreaded words came over the loudspeaker..."Due to technical difficulties we need everyone to get off the carousel...Here is our they are making us leave wave she is very uninterested...

Anyway, the Penny's had to leave and we thought about sticking around for the ride to reopen but we weren't sure how long that would be and we were very tired. So our day at the zoo ended. By the time we got to the car me and my mom were beat and she was sleeping. It took us a while to get from the art museum parking lot to the end of government drive and of course the car got cool when we hit the highway and so little girl woke up and decided it was time to eat. She cried very angrily until we got off 70 in Cville and pulled into the McDonalds parking lot to make her a bottle. We got to grandmas and grandpa Allen was off early for the holiday. After she ate she was as happy as can be.

Then she went home spent some time with daddy before he went to sleep and then sat in her swing with her elephant

It was a great day!! And now I really just want to do nothing for a few days :)
